When living in a sub-tropical climate, plants and trees grow at a much faster rate which means there is a never-ending job of cutting back and pruning. For a small garden it may be possible to manage the green waste disposal using one of the council green waste wheelie bins, which are collected every fortnight. But for yearly clear up you may need to use the services of a local rubbish removal business to get the job done.

What happens to your green waste?

Most of the green waste processing is managed by your local council.  In Brisbane the council puts the waste through a shredder and turns it into a fine mulch, which is then sold to landscape suppliers. In some cases, it goes through a more refined process of pasteurization where it’s kept at 50 degrees. This naturally breaks down and kills the weeds and other nasties. The mulch and compost are then available to buy at landscaping suppliers for use in homes, developments and parks and gardens across the region.

What is considered green waste?

For the council to be able to process the green waste without problems it is important that only approved green waste is disposed of at the transfer stations:

Acceptable forms of green waste

  • Grass clippings
  • Weeds
  • Palm fronds
  • Leaves
  • Loose bark
  • Prunings from bushes and trees

Cannot be recycled as green waste

  • Large logs
  • Large branches
  • stumps
  • Animal droppings
  • Kitchen waste, even fruit and vegetable scraps

Best way to dispose of green waste

In the Brisbane and Logan areas, 1300Clearout have designed their unique green waste skip bins to be both affordable and flexible to help with the job. Using a skip bin for your green waste provides a convenient and tidy solution for collecting all of your green waste at your own pace. Rather than leaving piles in your backyard or garden, our skip bins can be placed wherever you like on your property and filled up as you go. This removes double handling of green waste. Then, once you’ve filled your skip, 1300Clearout removes the bin and disposes of the green waste for you.

Pay by how much you fill

Trying to judge what size skip bin to hire can be a little confusing. Therefore, all our bins come as a standard seven cubic metres in size (7m3). On the side of each big we have marked the levels at 3m3, 4m3, 5m3, 6m3 and 7m3 and you only pay by how much you fill. When we deliver the skip bin, we ask that you pay the minimum charge which covers you up to the 3m3 level, and upon collection you settle the balance if you have used more than the 3m3 level.

Prices are as shown below (Green waste only)

3m3 level (minimum charge)                 $185

4m3 level                                                $215

5m3 lesvel                                 $245

6m3 level                                 $275

7m3 level                                $300

Bins on wheels

When you hire a green waste skip bin from 1300clearout you will see they are on rollers which means it is easy to locate them up a driveway, under a carport or even in your garage. This is especially handy with working in tight areas.

Stable Doors

Lifting green waste over the side of traditional metal skips is an exhausting proposition and increases the chance of injuring yourself. 1300Clearout bins have been designed with this in mind and offer double opening stable doors at both ends. You have the option to keep the lower door closed and throw green waste at waste height or having them both open allowing you to walk in with larger branches or Palm Fronds.

Hands on Green waste removal

An alternative to hiring a green waste skip bin would be to use the hands-on rubbish removal service. This service is a little more expensive than hiring a skip for green waste, but you have the benefit of not having to do any of the work. This is particularly handy if you are unable to manage the physical effort of loading a bin or if you can’t be there in person. 1300Clearout has both a load-and-go and a full-service option for removing green waste.
